TS Eta: Local State of Emergency declared
In preparation and response to Tropical Storm Eta, the City of Sarasota has declared a Local State of Emergency. City Manager Tom Barwin in consultation with Mayor Hagen Brody approved the declaration.

Circus Park Playground Update
Warranty repairs and tree replacements are scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 19 & Friday, Nov. 20, 2020, at the Circus Park Playground located inside of Payne Park.

David Cohen Park Updates

Saprito Pier to close for improvement project
The T.J. “Tony” Saprito Fishing Pier will be temporary closed to the public beginning in the first week of November while it receives some major upgrades and improvements.

Citizens can participate remotely in October City Commission meetings
With local governments in Florida authorized to continue hosting meetings via video technology through the end of this month, Sarasota citizens will be able to provide input remotely when the City Commission meets Oct. 5 and Oct. 19.

Mask ordinance remains in place with education and encouragement
Following Gov. Ron DeSantis’ executive order Friday afternoon, the City of Sarasota mask ordinance remains in place with the community strongly encouraged to wear a protective face covering in indoor and outdoor public locations and while doing business to help reduce the transmission of COVID-19.

Individual and business assistance applications will be available starting noon Wednesday, Sept. 16, for the community to access Sarasota County's Coronavirus Relief Fund allocations of $18.9 million.

City Commission sets preliminary millage rate; No increase proposed
